Fellowship Program Director Dr. Kunal Agrawal with 2018-2019 Fellows: Chia-Chun Chiang, MD., Julian Duda, MD., Syed Ali, MD., & Alyssa Bautista, MD.
Goals and Objectives of the Fellowship
The UCSD fellowship training program in Vascular Neurology provides clinical and didactic curriculum that meets the training requirements set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Program begins July 1 and ends June 30. Throughout the year, fellows will attain the experience, skills, and knowledge necessary for the independent practice of stroke. The fellows interact with clinicians at various teaching sites throughout the program. This program offers significant individualized attention to the fellow as well as a diverse exposure to the field of Vascular Neurology.
The vast array of clinical material is further enhanced by an extremely dedicated full-time teaching staff, with areas of sub-specialization in stroke, neurovascular diseases, neuro-rehabilitation and neuro-critical care. Fellows will gain proficiency with the acute treatment of vascular neurological emergencies. Develop expertise in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of vascular neurological disorders. Acquire skills in teaching medical students, interns, neurology residents and other colleagues.
The overall goal of the Vascular Neurology fellowship program is to prepare the fellow physician for the independent practice of clinical neurology. Each fellow comes to the program having had four preliminary years of training (PGY-4). As the fellows progress through the program, there is progressively more responsibility assigned.
