Open Research Studies

Here are our active research studies currently seeking volunteer subjects. Click on each study for more information. If you do not find any studies that you are currently qualified for or interested in but would like to be contacted for a future study, please join our registry and we will add you to our list of potential future subjects.

OSA: If you have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and OSA
We will study people with OSA with and without COPD as well, to learn more about the differences in physiology, respiratory control, and inflammation between these two groups of patients.
HIV and OSA
We will study people living with HIV to explore whether obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) might be causing or contributing to the fatigue and incresed risk of heart disease common in people with HIV.
Tongue Exercises
This study aims to find out whether a set of tongue-strengthening exercises with a custom oral device might be an effective new treatment for OSA, by making the tongue stronger and less likely to collapse the airway during sleep.

COPD: If you have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with or without also having OSA

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and OSA
We will study COPD patients with and without OSA to learn more about the differences in physiology, respiratory control, and inflammation between these two groups of patients. We are currently recruiting subjects who have both COPD and OSA, but if you have COPD without OSA, let us know if you would be interested in being contacted when we are recruiting COPD-only subjects.

HIV: If you are HIV-positive and taking Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART)

HIV and OSA
We will study people living with HIV to explore whether obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) might be causing or contributing to the fatigue and incresed risk of heart disease common in people with HIV.
