Dr. Ceponis has extensive experience as clinical rheumatologist, educator and physician-scientist, and has diverse clinical science background. This includes training in immunopathology of rheumatic diseases in Europe, and 5 year experience in industry, and drug discovery. In his role as the Director of Rheumatology Fellowship Program at University of California San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, Dr. Ceponis dedicates significant time for resident and fellow teaching in rheumatology, musculoskeletal diseases, and teaching musculoskeletal ultrasound. Dr. Ceponis also serves as instructor of musculoskeletal ultrasound course for American College of Rheumatology (ACR), and as a member of the Review and Assembly Committee for ACR MSKUS certification. The Rheumatology Fellows awarded Dr. Ceponis an inspiring teacher of the year award in 2012 and 2013.  In year of 2000, Dr. Ceponis was awarded Nordic Rheumatology Award of 2000 for one of the two best Scandinavian Doctoral These in Rheumatology.
