Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship

For the AIPPD 2022 application cycle for training that will begin in July 2023, we will be accepting 1 incoming fellow for Interventional Pulmonology fellowship position through the match. 


Program Description

Interventional pulmonology (IP) is a rapidly-developing, procedural-oriented subspecialty of pulmonary
medicine. At UCSD, a one-year IP fellowship has been designed to develop and train interventional
pulmonologists in complex diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, as well as advanced minimally
invasive pleural procedures.

The Match

Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) in Interventional Pulmonology. Our program reference number is 1049P49S0

Application Submission

We accept applications through the online Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship Application System (IPFAS). Instructions for completing and submitting the AIPPD application can be found on the Association of Interventional Pulmonology Program Directors (AIPPD) website.
The IPFAS application system via AIPPD website will start July 2022 for the class entering on July 1, 2023. We will accept applications until September 15, 2022. We strongly encourage applicants to apply as early as possible in the application process. 

To be considered for a fellowship position, the applicant is expected to:

  • Have completed a Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship 
  • Be eligible to practice in California.

To be considered for a fellowship position, your application must include:

  • Completed application
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Minimum of 2 letters of recommendation 


Interviews

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, all interviews will be held virtually this year for the 2022 fellowship application cycle. Interview invitations are offered on a rolling basis during the application process. Interview dates offered to those selected applicants are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. The interview day will consist of virtual visit with Grand Rounds, a program overview, interviews, a tour, and multiple opportunities to meet with faculty in the program. Interviews will be conducted between late August and October.
