The overall aim of CPGLO is to maximize information from highly informative but currently separate social and biological (anthropological, physiological, -omic, clinical) research.

The Center specifically focuses on important but understudied questions regarding human responses to low oxygen, including:

  • how variation is distributed among different ancestral groups,
  • how this variation influences or reflects system-wide differences in oxygen transport, and
  • how these differences ultimately contribute to distinct responses to low oxygen (hypoxia) inherent to many common disease states.
Genomic and systems-level physiological and molecular data collected and analyzed through separate but highly integrated components of the center aim to address these concerns at basic and clinical research levels.‚Äč
