Why Nephrology: The I was drawn to the interesting pathphysiology, the emphasis on longitudinal care, and the combination of inpatient and outpatient medicine.
Hobbies/Interests: Baking, travel, piano, reading (mostly Fantasy and Sci-Fi), video games.

Why Nephrology: Love the pathophysiology of renal medicine and the good balance of inpatient and outpatient care!
Hobbies/Interests: Hiking, shopping, working out, trying new food cuisines.
Plans After Fellowship: I hope to continue working in academic medicine.

Why Nephrology: Amazed by renal physiology and its translation into pathophysiology and the clinical practice of nephrology.

Why Nephrology: I enjoy providing longitudinal care for people with multi-system chronic illnesses, helping my patients make informed and personalized decisions about the role of health care in their lives around the time of critical illness, and sharing my passion for complex physiology with other learners.
Hobbies/Interests: Yoga, swing dancing, container gardening, reading magical realism.
Plans After Fellowship: General nephrology with a special interest in glomerular disease.

Daniel Leininger

Residency: Loma Linda University
Why Nephrology: It intimidated me in medical school so I chased after it. I love the intellectual stimulation of the pathophysiology, the longevity of care you experience with your patients and the high retention of general medical knowledge.
Hobbies/Interests: Snowboarding, hockey, traveling, sushi, drawing, taking the road less traveled. 
Plans After Fellowship: Transplant nephrology or working with the community.

Jonathan Cheng
Hometown: Diamond Bar, CA
Medical School: Keck School of Medicine of USC
Residency: LAC+USC Medical Center
Why Nephrology: I chose to go into nephrology because I enjoy the challenge of mastering the breadth of knowledge about the kidneys while staying up to date with general internal medicine, the flexibility of treating patients in both acute and non-acute settings, and the endless research opportunities.
Hobbies/Interests: Working out, practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, spending time with my wife, and training my dog.
Plans After Fellowship: To be determined.

Why Nephrology: CKD and ESKD patients represent a vulnerable population that I feel called to serve.

Residency: UNLV Internal Medicine
Why Nephrology: Because I love fluid mechanics, staring at numbers, and renal histopathology.
Hobbies/Interests: Longboarding, ultimate frisbee, and learning about ancient history.
