Genomics & Precision Medicine Core Services

The Division of Genomics and Precision Medicine operates a full-service laboratory for clinical genetic counseling and testing on the main UC San Diego campus. Staffed by highly trained licensed professionals and laboratory personnel, the Cytogenetic Laboratory and the Molecular Genetics Laboratory utilize the latest advances in diagnostic assay technology to provide physicians with an extensive menu of cytogenetic, FISH, and molecular tests. The laboratories work closely with the Division's board-certified medical geneticists and genetic counselors to ensure timely interpretation of laboratory results for healthcare professionals and their patients.

IGM Genomics Center - UC San Diego

The IGM Genomics Facility at the UC San Diego, is a core research facility overseen by the IGM. Located in Leichtag 172, the IGM Genomics Facility provides a variety of services, including sequencing library preparation and sequencing on Illumina's HiSeq2500/2000 and MiSeq platforms as well as on the PacBio RS II Sequencing System. We also process Illumina Infinium BeadChips, which includes a variety of whole-genome genotyping (WGGT) arrays as well as the Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChip.

Biochemical Genetics Laboratory - UC San Diego

The Biochemical Genetics Laboratory has been in operation since the establishment of the UCSD Medical School in 1969. As such, we are one of the oldest practicing labs in the field of Metabolomics. We offer CLIA-certified, quantitative analysis for over 150 targeted metabolites, in addition to many common metabolic tests, and several tests not generally available in other laboratories, which have been developed in the conduct of research or the care of our patients with inborn errors of metabolism.

Cytoscape

Cytoscape is the industry standard software environment for visualizing, analyzing, and modeling genetic networks. It is also designed to integrate these networks with annotations, gene expression profiles and other state data. Although Cytoscape was originally designed for biological research, now it is a general platform for complex network analysis and visualization.

The Center for Computational Biology & Bioinformatics
