Academic Profile

Dr. Nhan Vuong attended Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and went on to complete a three year Internal Medicine residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. After completion of his residency, he was elected to and completed an additional one year Internal Medicine Chief residency at Riverside University Health Systems. 

Dr. Vuong joined the University of California San Diego's Division of Hospital Medicine as Assistant Clinical Professor in 2017. His interests include developing and integrating medical technology into clinical practice, patient flow efficiency, and quality improvement. He serves as a core committee member for the Hospital Medicine Procedure subcommittee with a special emphasis on point-of-care ultrasound, the Utilization Review committee, and the Medication Error Reduction Plan committee.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys the San Diego outdoors. Dr. Vuong is an avid runner, hiker, and cyclist. One of his goals is to eventually complete an Iron Man after he learns to swim. He also enjoys starting home improvement projects.
