Striving for practice excellence has been at the forefront of Dr. Maryann Ally's career. She thrives on the everyday interactions she has with her patients, their loved ones, and the staff who care for them. To further enhance her patient's experience in the hospital, Dr. Ally sits on the COPD Program Collaboration for Care Quality Improvement and Readmission Reduction committee, Hospital medicine preoperative workgroup committee, Antibiotic utilization committee, and also collaborates with Pharmacist and EMR specialists to enhance patient safety. As an Associate Clinical Professor, she enjoys working with residents and medical students and helps to facilitate various lectures. Dr. Ally has served as an Abstract Reviewer and Judge for local and national chapters of the American College of Physicians, Society of Hospital Medicine, and Society of General Internal Medicine. At several of these professional meetings, she has been fortunate to have presented both clinical vignette and innovation posters.
Dr. Ally went to medical school and completed residency at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. After medical training, she practiced at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, and Straub Hospital in Honolulu, HI, prior to coming to UCSD.
Her hobbies include spending time with her husband and three daughters, playing the piano, singing, dancing, and traveling.
