Dr. Komsoukaniants graduated from UT Southwestern medical school in 2014. After 22 years in Texas, he decided that it was time for a change and moved to San Diego for an internal medicine residency at UCSD. Following residency, he joined the division of hospital medicine in 2017. He works as a nocturnist and a daytime hospitalist at both Hillcrest and Thornton/Jacobs. His academic interests include medical education and quality improvement.
Dr. Komsoukaniants teaches both medical students and residents through lectures, interactive teaching sessions, and direct patient care. Additionally, he works with residents on quality improvement projects which focus on reducing waste and improving outcomes.
His hobbies outside of work include origami, reading, hiking, and video games.
