Academic Profile

Dr. Seymann is a graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine and completed his residency training at UCSD.  He remained on faculty and was one of our original hospitalists. He has an interest in high value healthcare, and oversees the "Value Improves Quality" course for the Internal Medicine housestaff, as well as the SOM "Choosing Wisely Stars" Program at UCSD.  He is active in the national "High Value Practice Academic Alliance" as a co-director and mentor in the VITAL program, which provides mentorship to junior faculty across the country with academic interests in promoting high value care. He has academic interests in antibiotic stewardship and procalcitonin in particular, and has served in various roles for the Society of Hospital Medicine.  He is a poor excuse for a golfer, enjoys running and boxing to stay in shape, has fun playing guitar and being a dad to 2 fantastic kids.
