Our Mission

We are dedicated to providing the very best compassionate, patient-centered care leading to outstanding clinic outcomes. Wellness, prevention and collaborative care are our clinical practice cornerstones. In our practice environment we also train future doctors using the very latest evidence-based knowledge and techniques while researching ways to continuously advance the art and science of primary care.

Our Division Values

We value a culture of wellness, collaboration, commitment to education, innovation, and scholarly activity.

Our Role

The UCSD Division of GIM serves a pivotal role in providing clinician educators for both the UCSD internal medicine residency program as well as primary care clerkships within the UCSD School of Medicine. Our faculty are well-regarded for their excellent skills in providing complex and clinically difficult care in collaboration with top regarded specialty services at UCSDH. UCSD Health is recognized as a Vizient Top 10 organization and serves as the leading #1 Hospital in San Diego by the U.S. News and World Report. GIM research spans diverse interests, from clinical studies within and across disciplines to new ways to optimize patient outcomes, quality of life as well as physician engagement and well-being.

Our Faculty

The UC San Diego Division of General Internal Medicine consists of over 70 physicians and more than 50 active faculty members. Primary care/clinical care, research, and teaching by faculty members occur at both UC San Diego Health and the VA San Diego Medical Center.
