Congratulations to Nicolas Aznar and Jason Ear, and a team of their collaborators who just had their manuscript accepted at Science Signaling , describing how increasing growth factor signaling may flip a tumor suppressor protein [Daple] into a prometastatic oncogene during colon cancer progression. This work shows how Daple, which was initially found to have a Dr. Jeckyl and Mr Hyde sort of bifaceted role in epithelial cells, switches from one role to another.
Full Citation of the work: Convergence of Wnt, growth factor and trimeric G protein signals on Daple. Aznar N., Ear, J., [contributed equally], Dunkel Y., Satterfield K., He F., Kalogrioopulos N. A., Lopez-Sanchez, I., Ghassemian, M., Sahoo, D., Kufareva, I., and Ghosh, P. Science STKE., 2018.
Congratulations to Lee Swanson [GSR, BMS] for being selected for $25,000 in funding. The faculty review committee for the Chancellor’s Research Excellence Scholarships (CRES) for Graduate Students has selected his proposal entitled, "Combating Inflammation with Mathematics".
