What is Epidemiology?
Epidemiology is defined as the branch of medical science
that deals with the incidence, distribution, determinant/characteristics and
control of a disease in a population. Epidemiologic studies are the foundation
for disease control and prevention through tracking the prevalence of the
disease, characterizing the natural history, and identifying determinants or
causes of the disease. . It defines risk factors for a disease and targets for
preventive medicine. Our objective is to provide clinicians with a summary of
the most recent epidemiologic evidence on NAFLD.
