The University of California San Diego Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited GI fellowship that is committed to excellence in patient care, education, and research. The fellowship program provides unrivaled clinical and research opportunities for its fellows. During their training, fellows are exposed to a large variety of clinical experiences while rotating through a large tertiary care referral hospital (Jacobs Medical Center), a tertiary care Veterans Affairs Hospital (San Diego VA Medical Center), a university hospital which serves as the county hospital equivalent (UCSD Hillcrest Medical Center), a community hospital (Kaiser San Diego) and a number of outpatient clinics. Our faculty is dedicated to teaching and is comprised of internationally recognized experts in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Hepatology, Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, Pancreaticobiliary Disorders, Advanced Endoscopy, Motility Disorders, GI Oncology, and Small Bowel diseases. The program emphasizes research for both Clinical and Research Fellows with a strong track record of publications and scholarly activity amongst the fellows. We also emphasize mentorship and identify career mentors, endoscopy mentors, and research mentors for all fellows shortly after joining the fellowship.
As the leaders of the fellowship program, our goal is for every fellow to obtain exemplary clinical training, maximize scholarly activity and help individualize the fellowship experience so that each fellow can attain their individual career goals. As you explore our website, you will learn about our program, the wealth of opportunities, and the wonderful people (faculty, fellows, administrative staff) that make our program so special.
