Incoming Fellows 2020-21

‚ÄčAll geriatrics fellowship positions for 2020-21 have been filled! We look forward to welcoming the following three individuals to our program here at UC San Diego!

Deborah Lee, D.O., has lived in various cities along the West coast of the US and in Taipei.  Encinitas was her home until moving away for undergraduate school at UC Berkeley and then attending Osteopathic medical school at Touro University - CA. She followed her passions for continuity of care and underserved community medicine, which led her to return for a Family Medicine Residency at Family Health Centers of San Diego. She hopes to continue to serve the community as a Geriatrician.  For fun, she enjoys cooking healthy recipes, staying active (tennis, yoga and hiking) and listening to podcasts.

Herbert B. Rosenbaum, M.D., is a proud native of San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., completed medical school at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and will finish his Family Medicine Residency at Banner/University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. His areas of interest in geriatrics include preventive and primary geriatric care, geriatric healthcare delivery model innovation, ethnogeriatrics, hospice and end-of-life care, and healthcare equity improvement across diverse populations - particularly the Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities. Over the years, Dr. Rosenbaum has lobbied numerous elected officials locally and nationwide about issues in geriatrics and healthcare in general, and he is eager to bring his enthusiasm for political advocacy to San Diego! He enjoys traveling to new places worldwide, food and cooking, listening to music, writing poetry, learning new languages, dancing, hiking, animals (especially dogs), local art scenes, and trying out new coffee shops or breweries.

After graduating medical school at Western University of Health Sciences, Yuichiro Sato, D.O., completed his Family Medicine Residency at Texas Tech University in El Paso, Texas. His interests include aging-related research, medication deprescribing education, and end-of-life care. On days off, he enjoys watching movies, trying new cuisines, dancing, drawing, and exploring new places. He studied at UC San Diego for undergraduate and graduate school, and is excited about returning to serve the San Diego community and its geriatric population.
