Steve Tally, PhD

​Director of Clinical Research

Dr. Tally received his doctoral degree in Human Development at the University of California, Irvine, and his M.A. in Experimental Psychology from San Diego State University. Dr. Tally’s interests and areas of specialization include cross-cultural differences in socio-emotional states, instrument and scale validation, and health care utilization in elderly populations.

As Senior Project Manager at HSRC, he has managed multiple collaborative projects.  This includes a lead role managing all reporting efforts on the San Diego County Adult and Older Adult Mental Health System Data Analysis and Monitoring Evaluation.  As part of this reporting and evaluative effort, Dr. Tally supervises the analysis, compilation, and production of annual system-wide utilization and evaluation reports, analysis and reporting on multiple source mental health consumer satisfaction data, and other ad-hoc and routine reporting necessary and required as part of the project.   The project requires the use and analysis of data from a variety of diverse sources, including the county medical information system, the California State Full Service Partnership Data Collection and Reporting System, survey data, and data obtained through qualitative techniques. Dr. Tally has also managed other evaluation projects for Behavioral Medicine and Quality of Life research studies and projects.

Dr. Tally has previously worked as a statistical and methodological consultant in the private sector and served as research director and senior statistician for a national survey research firm.
