History

We began in 1997 with one site in the basement of a church in Pacific Beach, where an excellent program was working with the street homeless, called Harvest for the Hungry. Now we have five sites, including three community churches and inner city school, and Veteran's Village (Dental Care only) and are open somewhere each day of the week. Our program is possible because of our remarkable and long standing community partners.

The passion of the medical students is key to the success of our program. They arrive in medical school with passion, compassion and a desire ot make a difference and we keep it alive. We have several programs that nourish children in the schools including an inner city middle school elective in which students learn to be youth health promoters.

This is an early free clinic video made in 1999 which we updated 2018 to include where some of our students and leaders are today.
