In response to increased attention to dissemination and implementation research (D&I) by the national and international research community and growing funding opportunities related to D&I, the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health at UC San Diego will host the first Dissemination and Implementation Research Summit on April 25-26, 2018 on UC San Diego campus.

The ultimate mission of the D&I Research Summit is to create and foster an active and collaborative learning community focused on state-of-the-art outcomes and community translational research methods and application as well as to identify existing and create new shared resources for D&I research.

Why Attend the Dissemination and Implementation Research Summit?

New research arena. New funding opportunities. New Community. The Dissemination and Implementation Research Summit (April 25 – 26) will provide instruction and information to health researchers, practitioners, and other professionals interested in D&I through:

  • Innovative curriculum on Dissemination and Implementation Research (D&I)
    • The importance and need of D&I research and practice
    • Definitions of common terminology and use of theories and practice
    • Learn to design D&I research and practice
    • The identification of existing resources and toolkits
    • A comparison and contrast of study evaluations and approaches in D&I
    • An identification of key metrics
  • Face-to-face networking opportunities with peers, mentors/mentees, and thought leaders
  • Interactive and tailored small group workshops to review project proposals
  • Late-Breaking D&I research

The keynote speaker is Dr. Russell Glasgow, Ph.D. Dr. Glasgow is a Research Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver, Aurora, CO. Past positions include the Deputy Director, Implementation Science, Division of Cancer Control & Prevention Services, National Cancer Institute, Rockville, MD and Senior Scientist at the Kaiser Permanente Institute for Health Research in Denver. He was also a member of both the Cancer Research and HMO Research Networks.

Dr. Glasgow has 15 years of experience in D&I research, from the time it was recognized as a separate field, and over 25 years of experience in intervention and health outcomes research. He has over 400 peer reviewed publications, most of them related to applied research issues, pragmatic approaches, evaluation research, and ways to enhance uptake and dissemination.
