Health is a human right according to the United Nations convention. Many populations lose that right as a result of wars, violence and political instability. Wael Al-Delaimy has been a vocal supporter of this human right and has presented internationally on public health advocacy, with a special emphasis on the case of Iraq and its population.
Wael Al-Delaimy is involved in research ethics at the population level
through his role as Chair of the Ethics and Philosophy Committee of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology.
As part of his role in the committee he is responsible for the
development of policy and guidelines related to research ethics,
organizing symposia and sessions at the annual conference , as well as
initiating new areas of development for population research ethics among
the 36 international members of the committee. This area is likely to
develop further within the division as student training and
collaboration with others outside the division gets underway. |
