Goals/Description of Project
MotherToBaby COVID-19 Exposure and Pregnancy Study
MotherToBaby is conducting an observational study to determine how the virus that causes COVID-19 may affect pregnancy and infant outcomes. Read more.
Mommy's Milk COVID-19 Exposure and Breast Milk Study
The Mommy’s Milk COVID-19 study is looking at whether the virus that causes COVID-19 is present in breast milk, if breast milk contains potential antiviral properties that might protect an infant from COVID-19, and if there are any short- or long-term effects of a mom’s COVID-19 infection on her baby’s growth or development.
Predictors of COVID-19 infection at a County Level
Nationwide ecological study assessing predictors of COVID-19 infection at a county level, with a focus on ultraviolet light and humidity.
Do ACE inhibitors and ARBs influence severe outcomes in COVID-19 infection?
This case-control study will assess whether angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB) use is associated with increased severity of COVID-19 infection.
Social Consequences of COVID-19
We are sending a COVID-19 questionnaire to all participants in the San Diego MrOS (Osteoporotic Fractures in Men) Study (n=1600, mean age=88) regarding social consequences of the pandemic.
Patient Views on Returning to Face-to-Face Care in Family Medicine Clinics
Patients in Family Medicine Clinics were sent a questionnaire via MyChart regarding their views and concerns of returning to face-to-face in-person visits during COVID-19 pandemic.
Integrative Medicine for COVID-19
This multi-center study is a double-blind RCT of two arms: 1) Qing Fei Pai Du CHM formula, and 2) Fomitopsis officinalis + Tramates versicolor mushroom mycelium blend (FoTv).
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Treatment for COVID-19
This pilot study will test the effectiveness of osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) on inpatient, non-vented COVID-19 patients.
Impact of COVID-19 on Older Individuals
|We have added questions on COVID-19 to an upcoming questionnaire that will be sent to survivors of the Rancho Bernardo Study Cohort to learn about the impact of the pandemic on older individuals. |
Digital Health and COVID-19
The UC San Diego Research Center for Optimal Digital Ethics in Health (ReCODE Health) is in the process of developing digital health decision support tools for developing governance models in support of digital technologies being used for managing the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
Quarantine and Older Adults
This study consists of focus groups with 65+-year-olds to learn about the impact of quarantine on their physical and mental health. This work is in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence and Healthy Aging Project (IBM grant).
This research involves periodic collection of participants using ecological momentary assessment strategies and N-of-1 research design to collect mental and physical health signals to assess impact of SARS-CoV-2.
Outcomes among COVID-19 Patients in the Geriatric Emergency Department
This UCOP COVID-19 Research Seed Funding Grant is studying the relationship between comorbidities, neurological symptoms, geriatric syndromes (e.g. cognitive impairment, delirium), adverse social factors and clinical outcomes in older COVID-19 patients.
