Dr. Shaun Carstairs completed his undergraduate degree at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA and received his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the nation's military medical school. He completed a residency in emergency medicine at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and a fellowship in medical toxicology at the University of California, San Diego. He is a fellow of both the American College of Emergency Medicine and the American College of Medical Toxicology. His research interests include toxic alcohols, drugs of abuse, and the effects of rattlesnake venom on blood coagulation. He also currently serves as one of 17 voting members on the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee for the U.S. Department of Defense. When not working, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and two children. Publications.
