Dr Kaighley Brett is originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Studied Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph, and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2007 as a medical student. She graduated medical school from the University of Ottawa and completed a Family Medicine residency from Queen's University.
She has had a passion for diving and hyperbaric medicine since becoming a recreational diver. She completed the Advanced Dive Medical Officer and Submarine Medical Officer courses offered by the Canadian Forces School of Operational Medicine, and is currently completing a BScMedScHons (Underwater Medicine) degree through Stellenbosch University. Her current academic interests include microparticle production in divers, and otic barotrauma.
Lt(N) Brett left the Canadian Forces Health Services Center (Atlantic) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to complete a fellowship in hyperbaric and dive medicine at UCSD and a master's degree in public health. Outside interest include scuba diving, running, reading, crafts and board games.
