Dr. Jeremy Bass is originally from Dallas, Texas. During his undergraduate and graduate time at Rice University, he was exposed to the medicine from an engineering perspective in the Texas Medical Center. During this time, he realized the impact technology could have on medicine and improving people's lives. He believed he would better be able to impact healthcare technology as a physician, and completed medical school and residency in San Antonio, Texas. He completed his residency training in psychiatry. Dr. Bass had the opportunity his last year of residency to serve as one of the Chief Residents, focusing on education of students and residents. He has also presented at the American Psychiatric Association. It was during his final year of residency, he found the opportunity to combine his passions. He then went on to intern at Tamber Health in Minnesota. The world of mental health technology was in its nascent though, and so he chose a more traditional path, working private practice in Birmingham, AL and later at a state hospital in Terrell, Texas. However, his passion for technology in healthcare could not be extinguished. He is now excited to be a Clinical Informatics fellow at UCSD, where he hopes to use information services to improve patient care, outcomes, and experience. His interest lies in using technology effectively and appropriately to meet these goals. When he is not working, he enjoys traveling.
