The UCSD Department of Emergency Medicine provides care for nearly 150,000 visits annually at 3 Emergency Departments - urban level 1 trauma center in San Diego, NIH designated Cancer Center in La Jolla, and rural critical access hospital in El Centro, California. ​​ ​Learn more about us ​or read about our recent news and upcoming events​.​

Residency Program


We recruit 10 residents per year for a 4-year period and total of 40 residents in a PGY 1-4 format. Our program involves UCSD Medical Center, Tri-City Medical Center, Palomar Medical Center, Rady Children's Hospital, and ​El Centro Regional Medical Center​.
