Dr. Shaw is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at UCSD. He earned his M.D. degree from UCLA and completed his dermatology residency at UCSD. He obtained additional training in the field of contact dermatitis at the University of California, San Francisco from Howard Maibach, M.D., one of the world's authorities in this field.
Dr. Shaw has run the UCSD Contact Dermatitis Clinic since 1993. He performs extensive patch testing customized to each patient's exposures, including many substances not present on standard patch test series. This allows pinpointing the source of common and uncommon causes of both occupational and non-occupational allergic contact dermatitis. His published articles and lectures cover various aspects of this field.
Dr. Shaw generally accepts patients only when evaluation is requested by another dermatologist, allergist, or occupational medicine physician.
