I am a Neonatologist and Pediatrician with a research focus in the fields of genetics and genomics. This research interest has been honed during my fellowship training and refined during by post-doctoral studies in the Channing Division of Network Medicine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School. My thesis and research projects have focused on DNA methylation variation associated with smoke exposure in fetal lung and placental tissue (thesis project), lung Development transcriptomics, and gene expression signature in neonates with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia.
My advanced training in Bioinformatics is integral for my research and will allow me to analyze and interpret the large data sets resulting from newer high throughput genomic platforms. I would like to continue my training in the field of Bioinformatics and Developmental Biology in order to independently develop new algorithms and apply them to lung development, epigenetic changes and related areas. To this end I am continuing my training at the Division of Biomedical Informatics at UCSD under the guidance of Dr. Lucila Ohno-Machado and Dr. Louise Laurent.
