One of the most widely utilized cellular responses to environmental signals is the change in phosphorylation status of specific proteins within a cell. Protein phosphorylation is controlled by two families of enzymes known as protein kinases and phosphotases. My laboratory is interested in deciphering the role these enzyme families play in the ontogeny of cancer in vascular trafficking, as well as in bacterial pathogenesis.
