The UCSD Anesthesiology Update 2022 promises to be both an exciting and refreshing occasion. The program has a long history of providing excellent up-to-date lectures and workshops for the anesthesia practitioner, and we will continue on in that tradition. All of our speakers are experts in their respective fields, and accomplished lecturers. The workshops will continue to be provided at no extra charge, on a “first signed up first served” basis. As always, there will be plenty of time left each day to enjoy the sun and sights of beautiful San Diego.

The Anesthesiology Update 2022 has as its basic theme a critical evaluation of current practices of anesthesia. Consequently, the program contains state of the art elements in all the anesthesia subspecialties and discusses important new problems and their solutions which can be incorporated by the participants. The content of this year’s program is designed for primary care providers, anesthesiologists and CRNA’s. At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to: apply new American Heart Association preoperative guidelines to their practice; apply new cardiovascular monitoring indices such as Stroke Volume Variation in managing fluid administration; use ultrasound technology in their practice of Regional Anesthesia; apply the American Society of Regional Anesthesia Guidelines for the performance of regional anesthesia in anticoagulated patients; use advanced airway techniques and apply the latest American Society of Anesthesiologists guidelines in management of the difficult airway; and apply evidence-based principles in the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting. The content of this educational program was determined by rigorous assessment of educational need and includes review of prior course evaluations, faculty assessment as well as new medical knowledge that has been incorporated into the program. The speakers will emphasize clinical anesthesia management, regional anesthesia, airway management, and pain management following the traditional format of previous Anesthesiology Update programs. The speakers are all distinguished experts in their subspecialty fields and well recognized. At the conclusion of the speaker’s presentation, ample time has been reserved for questions & answers.
