As Deputy Director for Clinical Affairs, Dr. Parker provides key leadership in linking Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health’s clinics with clinical research activities and training. She was appointed to the position in July 2012. Since December 2007, she has also been Medical Director of Oncology Services at Moores Cancer Center and UC San Diego Medical Center. In that capacity, she provides leadership in execution of the clinical strategic plan and in operational oversight and quality management of multidisciplinary cancer care.

Dr. Parker’s faculty practice focuses on breast cancer. Her research interests include breast cancer prevention strategies, quality-of-life issues in patients undergoing therapy, and novel therapies for advanced disease.

The San Diego Medical Society voted Dr. Parker one of San Diego’s “Top Doctors” in Medical Oncology annually from 2006 to 2012. In October 2007, she received the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation for exemplary compassionate clinical care. In March 2009, she was awarded the “Attending Physician of the Year” by UC San Diego Medical Center.

She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina. She received her MD from Stanford University Medical School, where she pursued additional research training through the National Institutes of Health Medical Scientist Training Program. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and received her postgraduate training in both specialties at UC San Diego.
