UC San Diego is the official testing site for the revolutionary Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE. Inspired by the medical Tricorder of Star Trek® fame, the Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE is a global competition to develop a consumer-friendly, mobile device capable of diagnosing 12 physiological conditions and capturing vital health metrics.
Individual health consumers like YOU will play an instrumental role in determining the winning devices!

Are you between the ages of 21 and 65?
Are you a smart phone user?
Do you currently have one of the conditions?
- urinary tract infection
- atrial fibrillation (AFib)
- sleep apnea
- chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- otitis media
- pertussis (whooping cough)
- hyper/hypo thyroid
- food-borne contamination
- strep throat
(high or low)
Try one (up to three) of the tricorder devices and provide feedback.
You will be paid $150 to test a Tricorder and may test up to three different Tricorders, for payments totaling $599.
Testing takes a minimum of three hours. Longer tests will occur over a three-day period and you will take the device home.
Sorry, Qualcomm employees, physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants are not eligible.
