ResearchCompass for clinical trials support, management, training and resources is now available

UC San Diego investigators, affiliates, partners and staff can now utilize an online tool developed by the Altman Clinical and Translational Institute called ResearchCompass for clinical trials support, management, training and resources.

"ResearchCompass is a web portal that brings together clinical trial resources and available services in one location," explains Eric Mah, Assistant Dean for clinical and translational research. "It points visitors in the right direction in a complex system and University structure. We hope ResearchCompass streamlines the information-gathering process and makes it easier for UC San Diego investigators and staff to conduct clinical research."

ResearchCompass offers direct links, contact and timeline information, and useful internal and external tools for clinical trial management, policies and procedures, and regulatory issues. The Health Sciences Office of Compliance and Privacy is in the process of implementing the training program for research coordinators to support the information provided within the ResearchCompass website. A curated library on a wide variety of topics including project management assistance, contracts and grants, ethics and compliance, and links to Velos and REDCap, UCSD's clinical trials management systems; ACT, real-time cohort exploration and discovery; and Epic, UCSD's electronic medical records system, make ResearchCompass a valuable new resource at your fingertips.

There are many ways to navigate the site, which serves as a single portal to resources, expertise and best practices for the research community. Users can utilize the 'search' function, drill down to information using the tabs or click on the stage of their study to find helpful information tailored to their needs. Clickable protocols, forms and a variety of regulatory templates also ensure that researchers do not spend precious time searching for or wastefully recreating the same documents. There is also a section for individuals interested in joining a study or learning more about their rights as research volunteers.
