Nguyen Trieu has joined the UC San Diego Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) as the new Associate Director of Biomedical Informatics. Trieu has been with the University for approximately 20 years, serving first as the Senior IT Systems Engineer for Academic Computing Services and most recently as the Business Platforms Manager for Central Campus IT, with a focus on student and business systems and research platforms. He has extensive experience in leadership, project management and secure architecture of cloud and data analytics, in addition to the innovative development and operations of networking, computing and telecommunications services. Trieu's first day at the ACTRI was July 1st; he has stepped in to this new role with ease. As the Associate Director of Biomedical Informatics, Trieu is responsible for organizational management of ACTRI's Cyberinfrastructure (CI) and Information Services, providing critical and cost efficient services to UCSD and extramural customers. In this new role, Trieu is looking forward to promoting continued collaborations between advanced academic research, business and health cyberinfrastructure. "I have such an appreciation for how research and health come together and how the standard of care is continually improving for the betterment of patients – I am excited to play a role in the efforts of the ACTRI to promote research through biomedical informatics," Trieu stated.
Trieu received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and economics management science from UCSD. He also holds a UCSD Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt and completed the ITS LLP Leadership Program training. "Time really does fly when you are having fun. I really enjoy what I do," Trieu said.
Outside of work, Trieu enjoys spending time with family and fishing.
