ACTRI receives grant for ACEs research from State of California

UC San Diego Health will receive $3 million to address adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), a term that describes potentially traumatic events that affect children, such as family violence, abuse or neglect. ACTRI will lead the community-based initiative aimed at intervention with an ultimate goal of reducing associated childhood obesity. Latino children are more likely to be obese (25.8%) compared to white children (14.1%). The money is part of the California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine (CIAPM) funded by the California Comeback Plan recently signed by Governor Gavin Newsom.
