Florin Vaida, PhD, is a Professor in the Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, UCSD School of Medicine.
Dr. Vaida joined UCSD in 2004. He has a PhD in Statistics from University of Chicago and between 1998 and 2004 he was a Biostatistics faculty at Harvard School of Public Health. His research interests are in mixed-effects models, proportional hazards mixed-effects models, and model selection. Dr. Vaida has published over 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters, and he has extensive experience in the areas of HIV and NeuroAIDS. Among other projects, he is currently collaborating with the HIV NeuroBehavioral Research Center and the Translational Methamphetamine Research Center at UCSD.
In addition to directing the Biostatistics Module in CREST/MAS in Clinical Research degree programs, Dr. Vaida also teaches in the B.S. in Public Health and in the Ph.D. in Biostatistics programs, and serves as the Graduate Program Director for the MS in Biostatistics at UCSD.
