Human Milk & Long Term Outcomes: Psychosocial Aspects, Biologic Components and Current Research
On November 4, 2019, the UC San Diego Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute Center for Life Course Research hosted a symposium on human milk and long term outcomes. Talks ranged from psychosocial aspects of breast feeding decisions, to molecular mechanisms of beneficial effects observed from human milk exposure. Below are the agenda and slides from select talks.

The ACTRI Cognitive Resilience in Aging Symposium featured an international panel of nine presenters who discussed topics ranging from cognitive function in aging, lifespan changes in the brain, prevention of dementia and early life influences of cognitive function in aging. The all-day event, hosted and organized by the ACTRI Center for Life Course Research, took place at the ACTRI Building Auditorium on November 1.

The ACTRI Center for Life Course Research hosted an all-day symposium, “Adverse Childhood Experiences: Consequences Across the Life Course,” on May 17, at the Medical Education Telemedicine Building on the UC San Diego School of Medicine campus. Topics ranged from “Children Who Fail at School but Succeed at Life: Lessons from Lives Well-Lived” to “Childhood Trauma: Why You Should Care No Matter Who You Are, No Matter What You Do.” The symposium concluded with an airing of the award-winning documentary, “Resilience.” Event details

The ACTRI Center for Life Course Research presented a skill-building seminar and workshop on life course perspective research approaches on October 24-25, 2016 at the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute building. Professor Diana Kuh and Professor Rebecca Hardy, experts in life course epidemiology, led the seminar and workshop.

The ACTRI Center for Life Course Research hosted a free, half-day special symposium, "Cannabis Across the Life Course: What Do We Know and What Do We Need to Know” on April 13, 2016, at the Medical Education and Telemedicine Building (MET). Talks ranged from “Developmental Effects of Cannabis in Animal Models from a Neuroscience Perspective” to “Breastfeeding Exposure to Cannabis” and sessions focus on topics such as “Health Risks of Cannabis Across the Life Course” and “Human Health Benefits.”
