Congratulations on your acceptance to the UCSD School of Medicine. We
are all looking forward to seeing you in person on Monday, August 28th, 2023 for
an orientation week that will conclude with the White Coat ceremony on Thursday, August 31st, 2023. It will be our privilege to work with you over the
course of your medical education. More information will be released in the coming months about Orientation week events.
Up until now, most of you have primarily had contact with our Admissions group. Over the coming months, you will be interacting with additional
student and curricular support units.
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) will be your primary point of contact for
administrative matters as you enter the School of Medicine and make your
way through medical school.
The Office of Diversity and Community Partnerships (DCP) offers support for
students interested in working in community-academic partnerships and on
diversity projects. It is additionally the home for our PRIME-Health
Equity program.
The MedEd Educational Technology Office (MedEDTech) provides a wide
range of technology-based resources and activities including the Canvas LMS (Learning Management System), MedHub Evaluation and Scheduling System, ExamSoft and other
MedEDTech online resources. Your access privileges to these resources
will be automatically expanded as you approach the beginning of school.
The Office of Undergraduate Medical Education provides support for the
core and elective components of the medical school curriculum, the
educational support services, course evaluations, and the
multidisciplinary and anatomy laboratories.
Additional information will be forthcoming over the summer months via email and Canvas regarding prematriculation requirements as well as
information for family about the White Coat Ceremony. If you have
any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Student
Affairs Office at (858) 534-3700 or by e-mail.
Best regards,
Kama Z. Guluma, M.D.
Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs
