Dear Parents and Partners of the UC San Diego School of Medicine Class of 2027,
We are very pleased that your loved one is joining the UC San Diego School of Medicine community and we welcome you to our extended family. I am writing now to invite you to attend the Parents and Partners Orientation on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the School of Medicine.
The Parents and Partners Orientation is designed to help parents, siblings, spouses and significant others better understand the medical school experience. We hope you will be able to join us. If you plan to attend the Parents and Partners Orientation, please register in advance: Register Now
Following the Orientation, there will be reception at the MET Lawn and Courtyard. The School of Medicine's White Coat Ceremony will take place at 5:00 PM at the Epstein Family Amphitheatre. The ceremony is where our new medical students recite the Oath of Hippocrates and receive their first white coats. We encourage family and friends who cannot attend in person to view the ceremony via livestream. The link will be provided prior to the event.
The White Coat Ceremony reinforces the important values and principles upon which the profession of Medicine is based and we trust will mark the beginning of a long career of service for your loved one.
