Match Day is the culmination of four (and sometimes a little more!) challenging and arduous years and in some ways the most exciting day of the Medical School experience. Students receive notice of their residency matches via a sealed envelope! The UC San Diego School of Medicine Deans & Medical School Alumni open the ceremony with welcoming words to all attendees. Tradition holds that all medical schools open their Match envelopes at the same exact time and UC San Diego medical students will open their Match envelopes promptly at 9:00am! Matched students are then asked to pin their results to a large map to show where they will reside for the next few years. Parking in the Gilman structure is suggested. A light breakfast will be available beginning at 8:00am. Family & friends are welcome.
