The Virtual Commencement Ceremony 2020 has concluded. A recording is available below. Please note that due to contractual arrangements, the speech from our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, is not included in the video recording.

Our 2020 Commencement Keynote Speaker is Mona Hanna-Attisha, M.D., a pediatrician, professor, public health advocate, and author who spearheaded efforts to reveal, publicize, and fix Flint, Michigan’s water crisis. She has since been called to testify three times before the United States Congress, was awarded the Freedom of Expression Courage Award by PEN America, and was named one of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” in 2016.

Dr. Hanna-Attisha created the Pediatric Public Health Initiative, a model program to mitigate the impact of the Flint water crisis. As founder and director of this organization, she combines community and clinical programs, childhood health policy and advocacy, and robust evaluation to give Flint children a better chance at future success.

In her book, What the Eyes Don’t See, and through her personal and inspiring speeches, she motivates audiences to speak out against injustic.
