Preparing Students to be Physician-Scientists

The Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at UC San Diego is an inter-institutional collaboration that combines clinical training under UC San Diego School of Medicine with research training from a number of world-renowned research institutions including UC San Diego,  The Scripps Research Institute, the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences, the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, and the La Jolla Institute for Immunology

Most trainees earn both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in about eight years. Please learn more about the program at their website.
