UC San Diego Health Graduate Medical Education

UC San Diego Health, Jacobs Medical Centercomprised of both the School of Medicine and Healthcare facilities, is committed to graduate medical education (GME) as a central component of their mission to improve the health of the public. UC San Diego Health seeks to educate outstanding physicians and medical scientists.

UC San Diego Health provides a supportive and challenging educational environment, within which, residents of diverse backgrounds can prepare themselves for careers characterized by commitment to excellence in service to others through patient care, research, teaching, and lifelong learning. Faculty members offer residents state-of-the-art knowledge, demonstrate the latest developments in patient care, model compassionate and ethical care, and provide guidance and supervision to ensure patient health and safety. 

UC San Diego Training Programs

Rady Childrens Hospital UC San Diego Health offers 89 ACGME accredited Residency and Fellowship programs and 1 combined residency program for a total of 90 programs with over 870 resident and fellow trainees. UC San Diego also offers training to another 100+ physician trainees in approximately 40 fellowship programs for which accreditation is not currently available, and 40+ residents and fellows in Pharmacy and other non-physician clinical training programs.
