Program Description
The second annual Delivering Discoveries: Updates in Oncology is a live meeting scheduled for October 27-28, 2022 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine. The diagnosis and management of cancer patients is increasingly complex and requires multidisciplinary management. This 1.5 day event will address all aspects of cancer, from basic science research and advances in clinical care to community-based approaches that optimize prevention and interception. We have assembled a multidisciplinary group of internationally renowned faculty from UCSD, SDSU, and other institutions to systematically present the latest in cancer research with the goal of iteratively addressing and identifying gaps in knowledge that present a barrier to optimizing outcomes for patients with cancer.
Target Audience
The target audience for this initiative includes medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, primary care physicians, internal medicine physicians, scientists, nurses, public health experts, and others who care for patients with cancer.
Objectives
Upon the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify the needs of San Diego and Imperial county in terms of comprehensive cancer care
- Recognize clinical trial opportunities for cancer patients
- Integrate social media into the care of the cancer community
- Collaborate with data science experts to better understand cancer
- Determine best approaches to Cancer Prevention and Interception
- Examine recent advances in the cancer research related to direct patient care and the broader cancer community, as well as basic and translational science advances in:
- Colorectal Cancer
- Liver Cancer
- Pancreatic Cancer
- Other GI malignancies (Stomach, Anal, Esophageal, Appendix, others)
- Breast Cancer
- Cervical Cancer
- Ovarian and Endometrial Cancer
- Head and Neck Cancers

- Myeloma
- Bone Marrow Transplant
