Julii M. Green, Ph.D. is an assistant professor at Alliant International
University/CSPP in San Diego and a research associate within CiHED. She
received her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of North
Dakota. She completed her APA accredited internship at Sharp Healthcare,
and her postdoctoral training at PIRE/UC Berkeley School of Public
Health and UC San Francisco, Child Trauma Research Program. Dr. Green is
actively engaged in research, teaching, clinical practice, and service
to the profession. Her research is focused on intimate partner violence;
Native American, Alaska Native, and Indigenous mental health and
wellness; ethnicity and underage substance use; attachment and trauma as
well as its impact on diverse families; and mixed methodology. She is
actively engaged in advocacy through her participation in the San Diego
DV Council, the UC Berkeley Reproductive Justice Working Group, and APA
governance. Dr. Green was the 2012 recipient of the University of North
Dakota’s Allery Award for Native Research.
Project Summary
Research interests include intimate partner violence and ethnically
diverse families (specifically Native American and African American);
trauma and attachment among Native American families; multicultural and
community psychology. Current and future projects include tribe-directed
research addressing intimate partner violence, mental health, and
wellness; ethnicity and underage substance use, as well as child welfare
system involvement in the context of trauma, attachment, and
resilience. Dr. Green is involved in advocacy focused on feminism and
women's issues (e.g., reproductive justice) and cultural competency in
mental health services. Finally, she is committed to community-based
participatory action research and mixed methods research.
