For nearly two years, the world has been gripped by the COVID-19 pandemic, with no place immune. In this special issue of Discoveries magazine, we recount how University of California San Diego scientists, doctors, faculty, students, staff and the communities they live in and support responded to the ongoing public health crisis, from parsing the inner workings of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 to helping develop new vaccines and drugs to shaping and improving public health so that all may benefit equitably.
“UC San Diego continues to be an exemplar to the world. In a changed world, we changed too. We continue to learn, evolve and fulfill our goals to not only make the world better, but also better prepared for the future.” - Pradeep K. Khosla, Chancellor, University of California San Diego
