Regulatory Compliance

The Office of Compliance and Privacy is available to advise UC San Diego Health Sciences' members, coding and billing contractors, and inquiries from government agencies on the organization's compliance program to prevent fraud, waste and abuse. Guidance is also available on the applicability of Federal and State laws including, but not limited to, the False Claims Act (31 U.S.C. §§ 3729-3733), The Physician Self-Referral Law (42 U.S.C. § 1395nn) and The Anti-Kickback Statute (42 U.S.C. § 1320a-7b[b]). These laws play an important role in detecting fraud, waste and abuse of Federal and State Health Care programs. The Office of Compliance and Privacy is part of a larger compliance program that involves stakeholders across the organization who actively prevent fraud, waste or abuse.
