A core element of UC San Diego Health Sciences (UCSDHS) Office of Compliance and Privacy is providing a means to anonymously report suspected improper conduct. Reporting actual or potentially improper conduct helps UCSDHS fulfill our commitment to maintain an ethical environment which ultimately impacts the care we provide patients.
Examples of what to report include any type of:
- Misuse of UCSD property
- Misuse of patient information
- Fraud or corruption
- Gross misconduct, incompetence or inefficiency
- Conduct that poses a threat to the health and safety of our patients or employees.

Please note that your confidentiality will be maintained, to the extent possible.
If you make a report in good faith, UCSDHS will protect you from being penalized for blowing the whistle. You may file a grievance or complaint if you believe you have been retaliated against.

What if I have a question or concern?
The rules governing the health care industry can be complicated. For this reason, it is not always easy to make the right choices when it comes to compliance. If you have questions or concerns with any area of compliance, please ask for help. It is always better to ask before taking an action that might be improper. UCSDHS supports open discussion of ethical and legal questions.
Our Roles as Employees
Please remember, as a University employee or student, you have a personal responsibility to report any activity that appears to violate the Code of Conduct or any applicable laws or regulations. In general, if you are aware of a compliance violation and fail to report it, you may be subject to corrective or disciplinary action.
