The UC San Diego School of Medicine was founded more than 40 years ago, entering its first class in 1968, and in that short time has become a world-class institution, recognized as having global leaders in research, technology, translational medicine, education and clinical excellence.
Today, the School of Medicine is ranked 15th out of the nations 120 research-intensive medical school programs by U.S. News and World Report. Every day we help aspiring and current physicians fulfill their quest for lifelong learning. Through programs like our Medical Scientist Training program and our Student Run Free Clinic, we are training physicians to give state-of- the- art, scientifically astute, and compassionate care to patients. We rely on the support from alumni and friends like you to help our School of Medicine remain at the forefront of the dynamic field of medicine.
Annual Fund
The School of Medicine Annual Fund supports the highest priorities of the school, including medical education, community outreach and alumni programming.
Scholarship Support
Your gift in support of scholarships for our talented medical students helps strengthen our school by ensuring that we can continue to recruit the most capable and intelligent students, as well as train current students who require continued financial assistance. As the average debt of medical students grows toward $100,000, scholarships are urgently needed.
Medical Education and Telemedicine Building
In August 2011, the school opened the Medical Education and Telemedicine Building, a high-tech, state-of-the-art facility where instructors teach personalized medicine and leading-edge surgical, robotic and laparoscopic techniques to medical students and community physicians. This 100,000s.f. teaching facility will transform the way medical students learn to practice medicine and current physicians train for the future. Naming opportunities are available in the Medical Education and Telemedicine Building seats in the new auditorium, learning communities, simulation center, and more.
