Janet Kamerman is the chief human resources officer (CHRO) for UC San Diego Health, responsible for providing human resources services for all staff members within the health system and professional schools. This represents approximately 13,000 employees.
She oversees talent and organizational development, employee advocacy and labor relations, human capital planning, and HR operations. She also focuses on the human resources and staffing needs of all UC San Diego Health hospitals and clinics, including the new Jacobs Medical Center.
A member of the executive governing board and executive team, Ms. Kamerman ensures that the vision and model for human resources in the health sciences are realized. She also coordinates activities with UC San Diego’s main campus human resources, the UC Office of the President, and labor organizations, assuring compliance with university policy, as well as state and federal regulations.
Ms. Kamerman has 25 years of experience in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, most recently as chief human capital officer, the fourth highest-ranking FBI executive. Her previous roles with the FBI include serving as special agent in charge of the Honolulu field office, assistant director, training division at Quantico, and senior advisor to the FBI director.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Delaware and served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer.
