Cheryl Ross is the financial officer for UC San Diego School of Medicine. In this role, she supports the School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the various departments of the Dean's Office.  

She is responsible for several School of Medicine units, including Accounting and Reporting, Budget and Analysis, Business Applications Development and Business Intelligence, and Strategic Revenue Initiatives. She also collaborates with the finance team for UC San Diego Health.

In addition, Ms. Ross serves as controller and assistant vice chancellor, business and financial services, for UC San Diego's main campus.

Ms. Ross has over 20 years of progressive leadership and management experience with a proven record of success in improving and automating processes around financial reporting, payroll, sponsored projects finance, and finance technology. She worked at Columbia University for 11 years as university controller, vice president of student financial services, and head of special projects, global financial operations. 

Ms. Ross also served as the director of internal audit at Mayo Clinic for over five years and chair of foundation accounting for nearly four. In each of these roles she created a collaborative team, with an emphasis on staff development, process, and productivity improvement.

A Certified Public Accountant, Ms. Ross received her MBA in accounting from Purdue University.
